The current federal government plan is to locate a national radioactive waste facility (NRWMF) in regional SA.

For several decades, there has been a federal bipartisan approach to the search for a site to dispose of Australia’s radioactive waste.  All that has been achieved so far however, is stress and division in the affected communities.

Responsible radioactive waste management is a national issue that requires national scrutiny. Join the call for the federal Labor party to adopt a policy of extended interim storage of federal wastes at federal sites (in particular, the main source of the waste - the Lucas Heights site south of Sydney operated by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation) pending a broad independent inquiry that examines all options for future responsible radioactive waste, transport and storage and management.

Please contact your federal ALP member and Senators and ask them to support a resolution to end to the current process and for responsible radioactive waste management in Australia.

Tips on contacting Senators and members can be found here.
